No-one likes spam calls. It doesn’t matter if you are at home, or at work, wasting your time speaking to someone on a spam call is frustrating. So much so that some people will ignore calls from numbers that they do not recognise before searching their numbers to find out who it was that called them. There are a number of services out there that can help with this.
Wouldn’t it be better if you could find a way to stop these spam calls completely?
Not sure how to go about doing this? We have put together our guide to the top 5 tips to avoid spam calls.
Register for a service which blocks these calls
One of the simplest ways that you can try and block these calls is to register for one of the services out there that can block these calls. These services, in the most part are free and they are straightforward to sign up for and use. The calls are often limited to marketing and sales calls and will help reduce the amount that you receive.
Block the repeat offenders
Know which number is calling you the most? If you do, then you can get in touch with your phone company and ask them to block these numbers. This is relatively easy and quick to do, however, you need to remember that this will only block those specific numbers. If the company has a number of different numbers then this won’t stop them calling you.
Purchase an inbound call blocker
One of the most effective ways that you can block calls coming in is to purchase an inbound call blocker. These are designed to offer the maximum protection for your phone line. It does this by blocking calls that come through, which do not have the required code to reach you. Whilst it does mean that you need to remember to hand out this code to anyone that you are happy to speak to, it will stop you from receiving calls that you really don’t want to take.
Report the number
In order for action to be taken against the company making the spam calls, there needs to be someone reporting them. Why not make sure that person is you? Whilst it may not always seem like it, there are rules and regulations that cover nuisance and spam calls and in fact, if the ICO decide to fine a company then this can be as much as £500,000.
Always check the consent boxes
It is all too easy to quickly whizz through a terms and conditions form when buying something or surfing online. However, it is important that you pay attention to what is included in these forms. Often you will see a check box which will ask you to provide consent to be contacted, ticking this box (or not ticking if that is the option) should help cut down on how much you are contacted.
As you can see, you don’t have to cope with spam calls, in fact, there are plenty of things that you can do to make sure that you don’t have to worry about who is calling you!
